So, too, will I plant for my children."
(Babylonian Talmud, Ta'anit 23a)

To my Shomrei Torah Family,

It is hard to believe that that this summer is coming to an end and in just a little over one week we will come together again to observe the High Holy Days.

Shomrei Torah is our Jewish home. It is the place where we teach our children and grandchildren the values that will guide their lives, and the place where we come together to share each other's joys and sorrows. As we approach the High Holy Day season, I would first like to thank each of you for being part of our synagogue family.

Jewish tradition teaches us to make the world a better place for future generations. Those who came before us preserved our heritage and it is our obligation is to ensure the future for the next generation. As we plan for our future at Shomrei Torah, we want to ensure that our children's children will have the same love for and commitment to Judaism as our ancestors did.

Our tradition teaches the importance of giving generously during the High Holy Days. Through your High Holy Day Appeal and President's Council contributions, we can help ensure that Shomrei Torah, our synagogue that we love, will not only continue to survive, but will thrive.

Each and every gift – large or small – reflects your belief that Shomrei Torah has a significant impact on you, your family and our community. My goal is 100% participation, and I ask you to join me in making a difference with your donation to our High Holy Day Appeal and President's Council.

Our synagogue relies on the commitment of each of us to sustain our community. In the words of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, "Do as much as you can and then just a little more than you can. This is vital." Be a part of our success....so that we can “plant for those who come after us.”

I am so grateful for your support and look forward to sharing the High Holy Days with you!

Best Wishes to you and your families for a happy and healthy 5776, and may you each be inscribed and sealed in the Book of Life.
